Meghan King and Jim Edmonds’ Kids Are Unaware of Full CPS Investigation Details, Source Says

The exes share daughter Aspen, 8, and twin sons Hart and Hayes, 7.

The three children of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King and her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds, are reportedly not fully aware of the recent dramatic shift in their family situation, a source close to the family confirms.

The change stems from a Child Protective Services (CPS) investigation launched after King allegedly administered Ritalin, a medication commonly used for ADHD, to one of her sons without a prescription. Following the investigation, King temporarily lost custody, and Edmonds, a former professional baseball player, was granted sole physical custody of their daughter, Aspen, 8, and twin sons, Hart and Hayes, 7, as reported on November 21.

An exclusive source reveals that the children are adapting well, although they have not yet grasped the gravity of the custody change.

“They’re doing good. They don’t really understand yet,” the source states, adding that Edmonds and his wife, Kortnie, are “just kind of going slow, so [the kids] don’t start to freak out. They’re doing the best they can.”

The source further notes that while King has a regular visitation schedule, she has utilized only a fraction of her opportunities to see her children.

“Meghan has supervised visitation two days a week and every other weekend,” the source detailed. “She’s had the opportunity to see them nine times… and she’s seen them three out of the nine.”

The revised custody arrangement was triggered by the Ritalin allegation. A source previously noted that King had allegedly instructed a school nurse to administer the unprescribed medication to her son.

“She tried to get the nurse to do it and then somebody from the school called CPS and they opened an investigation,” the source confirmed.

Following the CPS contact, the children’s court-appointed advocate filed for a temporary restraining order against King, leading the RHOC alum to lose temporary custody around late October. Us Weekly previously confirmed the supervised visitation and sole physical custody arrangement on November 19.

Neither King nor Edmonds responded to a request for comment regarding the exclusive report.
